He’s Working All Things Out

Last night was rehearsal for our Worship band at church. I needed the distraction and the words were comforting to say the least…

“the God who’s never late is working all things out”

“As I walk now through the valley
Let your love rise above every fear
Like the sun shaping the shadow
In my weakness your glory appears”

At this moment my head is swimming. There is so much going on in our extended family right now:

  • a brother-in-law who is suffering from “unstable angina” and was admitted to hospital for the 2nd time in a month
  • my son’s father-in-law who is suffering from an infection of the heart that was the result of surgery to implant a pacemaker a couple months ago
  • a sister-in-law who has just been diagnosed with a brain tumour and will undergoing surgery in the next couple weeks.
  • a mother-in-law who is cycling through good and bad days at age 95

On top of that we know of friends suffering from cancer and other debilitating illnesses.

It’s enough to make you lose your faith.

But I don’t!!!

Because I know the one who is in control of all things. It may not be his desire that these folks go through these trials. It certainly isn’t something He’s shoved on them. But I know that he will bring good through this.

I’ve read the end of the book. I know how it all ends. And so I will be at church on Sunday singing…

“Yes, I will lift you high in the lowest valley
Yes, I will bless your name
Yes, I will sing for joy when my heart is heavy
All my days, yes I will”

The old hymns say it too: “When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie, my grace all sufficient shall be thy supply. The flames shall not hurt thee, I only design thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.”
