Kapow Shrimp V1.0

So for Father’s Day my one son and his girlfriend decided they were going to make “Kapow Shrimp” for me.  Now when you usually try to replicate restaurant recipes they never turn out the way the restaurant makes them (I’m still trying to make the Lin Garden Green Beans!!), however, they managed to find a recipe online from someone who works (or worked) at Montana’s, where they’ve had the Kapow Shrimp Burger on numerous occasions.

So, needless to say they made it up and served just the shrimp with some linguine pasta.  It was great!!! so we decided that we’d “save” the recipe and work on variations over time to come up with our own “Lahn Version” of the Kapow Sauce (I’m sure you could use it on chicken or other meats as well).

Kapow Shrimp

  • 1/4 cup garlic caesar dressing
  • 1 cup of Thai chili sauce
  • 1 tsp of lime juice
  • 1 tsp of cilantro
  • shrimp

Fry up shrimp and after they cool enough to touch, dip in the kapow sauce.

For variations we’re thinking of:

  • extra spices / hot sauce
  • use it on chicken
  • use the sauce as part of a wrap or tortilla.

We’ll see what additional recipes we can come up with.

      I’m not sure it would make any difference to any great extent. We probably used either Kraft, or a store-brand garlic ceasar dressing. I’d say, the more flavourable the better 🙂

      Is this the real recipe? I am obsessed with this sauce and I am crazy enough to hit up Montana’s to purchase a container of this stuff?

        I can’t vouch for it being the “real” recipe, and you’ll see in the comments that someone else says THEY have the real recipe, but all I know is that this one is darn good and very close to the “real” one, if it’s not it. 🙂

    Better than at Montana’s when using very tasty ingredients (shrimp of good quality). I also made a crumb (panko) coat for our shrimps and it was just perfect for us. Thanks a lot for sharing this recipe.

    Well Mary, I have to admit that the picture isn’t mine 🙂 I notice though that Lucie has commented that she made a crumb (panko) coat for her shrimps. I have to admit, I don’t know what the means, as I’m no chef, but that might be your answer.

    Hi,

    Where exactly do you even find garlic caesar dressing? I’ve checked Walmart and Superstore it doesn’t seem to exist. I checked the ingredients and they all (or most) seem to have garlic? Some of em are a combination of garlic and Parmesan cheese.
